Pole

Went to a mini pole jam at Spin City in Bristol yesterday. It was my first time on the pole for two weeks due to Christmas. I had a headache so didn't really do much, just a few shoulder mounts and some Aysha attempts, mostly on a 45mm xpole which I'm not used to using but quite liked. I ache today though. Those two. weeks off have certainly had an effect. Looking forward to getting back into regular pole in the new year.

My new year pole resolutions -
1) Have proper goals and things to focus on. When I was training for Pole Divas I really noticed an improvement (albeit a slow one!) as I was aiming towards something.

2) Work on flow and grace.

Bristol Pole Championships

Last night I went to watch the Bristol Pole Championships which were held at The Bierkeller in Bristol. Several of my students came along with me to watch as well. I was glad to just be watching this time and not competing! The competition was made up of three categories – Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced / Professional. I knew several people that were competing across all of the categories.

There were some excellent performances across all three categories. The professional category was won by my friend (the owner of 360 Pole Dancing in Bristol where I go for my Thursday lesson), Robyn Rooke, whose routine I loved. I also particularly enjoyed the performance by Emily Smith of Emily’s Pole Fitness in Swindon.

I love watching competitions, they always inspire me to continue improving.

Here is Robyn’s performance –

Pole

Pole class on Tues was my last one this year. It was a little quiet but I’m planning a website re-vamp and some advertising over Christmas to hopefully get some more people joining in January.

Pole class last night went alright. I had surprisingly good leg grip for a change but didn’t make use of it as I was still practicing my Aysha and Shoulder mount lifts. I managed one reasonable Aysha. I’m strong enough to hold it but my hands are just super slippy at the moment and I’m not trusting my grip at all. Shoulder mount lift is improving very slightly but it takes time to build it up.

I’m off to watch the Bristol Pole Championship on Sunday which I am looking forward to. Several people I know are competing so looking forward to some good performances.

Pole and Rope

I haven’t been doing that much lately. Monday was my fist Corde Lisse class after missing two weeks (the first week due to other commitments and the second week because of my reoccurring shoulder injury). We have a different instructor for this block. He taught a block a while back and I really like his style. I didn’t realise how much I ached from it until I started teaching my pole class on Tuesday evening!

My Tuesday classes are going well. They have gone slightly quieter over the past couple of weeks but that seems to be down to illness. My 8:15pm ladies are doing really well. I now have three people in that class who are inverting. They all have poles at home and seem to be good at making sure they practice between classes which really shows.

My own pole practice has gone a bit hit and miss at the moment. I am still going to my friends class on a Thursday but I have been suffering from severe grip problems due to the cold weather plus my shoulder injury wasn’t helping matters! I have been working on my Aysha some more, it’s still hit and miss so keeping at it as I am determined to get it nice and strong. I have also been working on trying to lift into my shoulder mounts as I am quite confident with my shoulder mounts now so I need to be lifting into them nicely. Easier said than done though! I can get my feet off the floor but that’s it so far. Still it will happen as long as I keep practicing.

Lots and Lots of Pole!

I’ve been really bad at updating this, which is a shame as I have worked so hard on my pole recently. The Pole Divas competition was on Saturday and I have spent weeks preparing, poling most days. My main goals were to get that elusive Aysha and to get my Lunchbox back so that both could be included in my competition routine. I (just) succeeded on one but not the other.

I did get my lunchbox back but it was (and still is) really hit and miss so I decided to take it out of my routine and concentrate more on the aysha. I worked so hard to get it and had just about given up hope when I managed it on Thursday. Two days before the competition!

I was training every day for the two weeks leading up to the competition. On reflection this was too much. I had to cancel my Tuesday pole class as I was too tired to take it and I knew that if I didn’t give my body a rest then I would be worn out before it was time to compete.

I was quite looking forward to the competition early in the week but as it got closer my nerves increased. This wasn’t helped by a bad run through on Friday night! (Although watching the video back the run through didn’t go as badly as I thought it did at the time).

Saturday came I was so nervous. I knew several of the other competitors and that helped as everyone was so lovely and friendly. There were two categories on before mine – Amateur and Advanced Amateur. I was in the Professional category and was first on which pleased me as I wanted to get it over and done with! My routine went ok. I managed my Aysha so I was really pleased about that. I did manage to forget the whole middle section of my routine so I made some of it up as I went along! I also started my hip hold sequence too soon which upset my timings a little but it was all ok. I also managed my meathook which had been a little hit and miss in practice sessions. My routine was messier than I would have liked. I messed up my air inverts, I think I had just worn myself out and didn’t really have the energy left to do them nicely! My double spin was also very messy which was mostly due to my slippy hands and also it was in the bit of my routine that I forgot so I knew I had to put it in but was confused about where as I had not done the preceding stuff that I was supposed to do!

Overall I enjoyed competing. It was a good experience and I learnt a lot from doing it. I had so much help and support from friends, both in helping me with my practice and giving me encouragement during training through to watching and cheering me on on the night and I couldn’t have done it without that.

Pole again

I did a pole photo shoot on Wednesday evening. The photos are going to be used on my website which I am planning to redesign and on promotional items such as flyers and the Facebook group. The shoot went well, I think we got some nice shots. I was pretty achy Thursday morning though as I didn’t stretch afterwards and it was pretty much an hour of doing move after move and holding them all long enough to take a few photos.

Last night I went to pole class. I got on alright, I now feel that the Aysha is within reach. I was attempting the elbow grip version and I felt that I had a good grip in my bent arm but was unsure about my lower supporting arm. I will get there, I’m sure I’m strong enough (I have done a straight edge on the Chinese pole so I know I can hold my weight) it just a case of finding the right position and trusting my grip. I was also working on getting my Lunchbox back. I think I’m fairly close with this but I seem to be suffering from slippy hands which really isn’t helping!

Wednesday 22 September 2010

Not much pole and some corde lisse!

My pole class has been quiet for the last two weeks. I’ve put the 7:15pm on hold until October as its been empty and last night and the week before I had just three people in the 8:15pm class. Those three are all progressing really well. I’m starting to prepare one lady for inverts and think she will have the basic invert in a couple of weeks.

I’m doing a pole photoshoot tonight so that I have some nice new photos ready for a re-vamp of my website. Once I have the photos I’ll also make up some flyers and do a bit of advertising to hopefully increase class numbers again.

Last week I didn’t go to any pole classes. I went to a Dom Joly talk and book signing on the Thurs and then competition practice was cancelled on Friday due to lack of people. I did a bit of practice at home instead on Friday night, mostly going over the first section of my routine for the competition.

Monday nights Corde Lisse class went well. We were mainly working on Figurehead which is quite a simple move but it looks really nice. We also did quite a lot of conditioning as well which I like doing. The instructor, Gareth, has lovely pointy toes which you don’t see much in circus performers but it makes the moves look so much nicer then the usual circus flexed feet.

Tuesday 14 September 2010

Lots of pole and a little bit of rope

I did my last pole hen party on 4th Sept (I have since changed insurance companies and am no longer covered for parties so can’t do them any more). It was my biggest one ever with 12 people taking part, one of whom was male, and all of whom were dressed as old ladies ! It was fun, they all seemed to enjoy it.

My 7:15pm class on 7th Sept for some reason ended up empty so I made the most of the time to do some practice. My 8:15pm class was by contrast nearly full. Everyone is doing really well, one person came back after about six weeks off. She did really well and didn’t seem to have lost much strength so that was good. I also had a couple of new starters who seemed to enjoy it.

I went to pole class on the Thursday and did alright. I’m slightly concerned that my lunchbox is not coming back and I really need it to as I want to put it in my competition routine!

There is a new competition practice running Friday nights now so I went along to that as well. Was practicing my combinations for my routine and still trying to get that pesky lunchbox back (without success sadly).

I was back at corde lisse last night. We were mostly focusing on conditioning this week which was quite good. We have two instructors this time who are sharing the block. Tanya Scully who has taken the class before (and also teaches the Chinese pole classes that I go to) and Gavin who I had not met before so it will be good to see what he has to offer, I like learning off of a range of people as you get more variety and a mix of styles which I think is a good thing.

Friday 3 September 2010

More Pole

Tuesdays classes were quiet, I was expecting five people to the 7:15 class but no-one turned up ! I made the most of the time by having a little practice. I went back over the Teenagers routine to get myself back into the flow of routines and to build up stamina so that the 4.5 – 5 min routine at the comp does not kill me! I was only expecting three people to the 8:15pm class and luckily they all showed up. They all did really well and are learning fast.

I went to pole class last night and was pleased. I thought I was going to be rubbish at first as I was feeling a bit ill but once I got into the swing of it I was fine. Did my first caterpillar climb (with help) and was working on a little sequence that I am planning on including in my routine. I had a big red hot patch on the top of my leg from lots of hip holds!

Tuesday 31 August 2010

Lots of Pole

My pole classes went well last week. One new girl is picking it up really quickly. The second class was quiet. I hope it will be a bit busier tonight as people are back from hols etc.

Pole class on Thurs went ok. I think I need to decide now what I want to put in my competition routine and then specifically work on those things as those are the bits that I will need looking good.

I also went to pole yesterday. I didn’t do so well but all pole time is good as it all adds to strength etc even if I don’t feel that I actually achieved anything!

I have a busy week of pole this week. Going to classes yesterday, Thursday and Sunday and teaching Tuesday and Saturday.

Tuesday 24 August 2010

Corde Lisse

Corde lisse class went well last night. We were working on the same sequence as last week so I was mainly looking at the sitting man to walking man, double hocks and front balance to hip lock. I wasn’t entirely successful but made better progress than last week. My double hocks is getting stronger again although it’s still not back to where it was but it should be long now.

Monday 23 August 2010

Pole and Chinese Pole

I went to pole class on Thursday night. I was lacking a little in energy and motivation but it was a pretty good class. I was working on Star and Caterpillar mainly. The main thing that came out of it was that I have definitely decided to enter Pole Divas. It will give me something to focus on and work towards which I think is what I need.

First Chinese pole class in a while on Friday. It went well, I was feeling quite strong and managed to do everything, albeit some of it needs work still. I even managed to do a Straight Edge briefly which I was pleased about, all my caterpillar practice must be helping, I just need to transfer that across to the normal pole and be able to hold it confidently !!

Thursday 19 August 2010

Rope and Pole

First Corde Lisse class in a few weeks on Monday. It went fairly well. We were working on the B move first of all which I struggled with, but so did most of the others so that was ok! Then we looked at double hocks to front balance. I was a bit annoyed with myself as my double hocks used to be really strong but having not done it for some time it’s gone pretty rubbish. Must try to practice it each week.

My pole classes on Tuesday went well. The 7:15pm class is now full and once some of my students get back from holidays the 8:15 will also be close to being full. Everyone is picking things up nicely and seems to be enjoying it.

Monday 16 August 2010

Pole Jam

Saturday was a busy pole day for me.
It started off with a small hen party in the morning. That went well and they all seemed to enjoy it.
After that I was off to a pole jam in Bristol. It’s been a while since I last went to a jam so it was a good afternoon. There was cake and sweets and a photographer and lots of poling.
I managed to get my knee hold properly on the normal pole for the first time so I was pleased with that. I was also working on my back hook to invert which I managed to do several times.

Friday 13 August 2010

Update, pole and course.

Pole classes have been going well. The second class is a bit quiet at the moment as a lot of my students are on holiday or ill. Everyone is doing really well though and picking things up really quickly.

I have been considering taking a Personal Trainer course. It’s something I’ve been considering for some time and Weston College are running one starting in September. Its two nights a week though, Tuesdays and Thursdays which means I would have to move my class to a Wednesday and I would no longer be able to go to pole on a Thursday which I will miss. I had been considering entering Pole Divas this year but if I do the course then I won’t be able to enter the competition as I definitely won’t have enough time to put in enough practice.

Tuesday 3 August 2010

Pole

Last Tuesday I got part of the way to my pole class before realising that I had forgotten my shorts! Disaster! So, I had to turn around and go back home to get them which added 20 minutes onto my journey and made me late. Luckily my first class was small (3 people) so I only had to put up two poles which didn’t take long so we were soon up and running. It was the ladies second lesson and they are progressing well. One is a natural and managed to get all the moves quite easily. The other two find it a little more challenging but they were doing well. My second class was also very quiet but it went well and both people did really well.

On Thursday I went to pole class again. I left off of the knee hold as I was still bruised from the last week. I was doing quite a lot of shoulder mounts and I was pleased with them as they were the best they had been for a long time. I was able to hold the super invert quite comfortably. I was also trying meathook but was less successful here! I can do it fairly easily on the Chinese pole so why is it so much harder on an ordinary pole?!

Tuesday 27 July 2010

Pole, Chinese Pole and Corde Lisse

I went to pole class on Thursday night. It was a good class, I nearly have my superman back and my knee hold will soon be there as I managed to almost do it, getting my hands off the pole, just need to lean out more and remember to push hips forward. Also got to see a run through of the instructors routine (which she was performing at an event on Saturday night) which was good. I like watching routines in person (as opposed to on youtube etc).

Friday night was Chinese pole. This also went pretty well. I managed several successful meat hooks and managed to complete the sequence properly as well. Also worked on the shoulder mount roll. This was less successful. For some reason I am much less confident shoulder mounting on the Chinese pole than on the ordinary pole. At the end I had a quick knee hold practice and got a photo. I have done better knee holds on the Chinese pole before but it was the end of the session and I was bruised from the previous evening attempts!

Monday night was the last in the current block of Corde Lisse. We were working on a little sequence which included toe climb, walking man, double hocks to front balance, spice move and lotus. I wasn’t getting on very well with it! I have done spice move before but chickened out this time, I remember the pain from last time! I was also practicing twizzle into catchers which I have lost.

Recent Activities

I haven’t been doing too much lately due to a shoulder injury.

My pole classes have been running as normal and are going well. Have had a quiet couple of weeks but last night I had six new people so that was good. They seemed to enjoy it so hopefully they will continue. I have moved a couple of my 7:15 people up to the 8:15 class as they are now learning to invert. Everyone in the 8:15 class is progressing really well. One lady has recently bought her own pole and the extra practice is really paying off as she is improving really quickly.

Corde lisse has been going well. I didn’t go this week partly due to my shoulder and partly due to it being at the other site for a week. We had been working on sideways slato which was good.

Tuesday 6 July 2010

Activities Round Up

Last Friday was my first Chinese pole class in a while. The group has been split in two so its now smaller which means more pole time. I got on alright, we were still working on the usual bits and pieces so that was good. I managed a successful meathook on the left so was pleased with that.

Last Monday we the first of a new Corde Lisse block. We had a different instructor than normal so looked at some different things which was nice. For me it was mainly going back over All in the best possible taste which I managed to do. I think I had done it before but it was a long time ago so couldn’t remember it very well.

Tuesday’s pole class went well. A quiet one this week but everyone is making progress. I didn’t get much personal practice in, just the usual bits at the end. I’m finding that my body is really sticking to the pole but my hands are really sweaty and slidey which isn’t good!

I had been planning on going to pole on Thursday but I injured my shoulder on Wednesday so had to give it a miss.

On Saturday I had a party to do. They were late so I did some choreography whilst I was waiting as my late Tuesday group are keen to learn a new routine. The party went well and they all seemed to enjoy it.

Last nights Corde Lisse class went well. The usual instructor was back. We went back over what we had done the previous week, and I successfully managed to do the sideways salto which I was pleased about. We then went on to look at Catchers Arabesque and Figurehead.

Wednesday 23 June 2010

Rope, Pole, Pole, Rope, Pole

I haven’t updated this for a while so done quite a bit since the last time.

Corde Lisse class last Monday went well. We were looking at double hocks climb and then working on making up a mini routine so that was nice to go back over some older stuff. I struggle to remember it all though so really need to start making notes.

My Tuesday pole classes went well. Three new people and most of my regulars so it was my busiest class yet. Very hot though so was sticking to the pole with legs but had slippy hands again. Got really close to a knee hold.

Went to my friends pole class on Thursday. I’d looked through Wikipole earlier in the day to find some things to try but didn’t write them down so forgot! Must make a list next time!

Rope this Monday was the last of the current block. We went back over 360 drop and had a little go on a set of silks that were up which was fun.

Last nights pole class was good. My new people came back and seem to be enjoying it. Again very hot though so was really sticking to the pole except for my hands which just slid off despite copious amounts of dry hands which normally works pretty well.

Wednesday 9 June 2010

Pole class

Last nights pole class went well. Second week in the new venue and I’m really pleased with it so far. My first group did quite well although there were a couple of people in the group with injuries so they were taking it easy. My second group also did well. It was quite hot though and although the poles were nice and sticky for the inverts and holds spins were a bit of a nightmare and we were all suffering from sticky body / slippy hands.

I did a small personal practice although when trying my air invert my slippy hands just slid me right down so that wasn’t very successful and my hands and shoulder were again too slippy to manage a decent shoulder mount so I just practiced a few combinations of crucifix/ thigh hold/ Gemini/ scorpio instead.

Corde Lisse

Rope class on Monday night went well. The class was taking place in a different venue to normal which was a bit of a pain as the other venue is difficult to find but I got there without too much trouble. We were again looking at The Gripper and this time I managed to do it first time and then got it consistently after that so I was pleased. We were also looking at Back Balance which I was less successful with (but it took me ages to get Front Balance so I don’t expect to get Back Balance without a lot of practice) and Loop of Death to Key of Stomach to Mobile which I could do. So overall it was a successful class and I came away feeling like I’d achieved something.

Wednesday 2 June 2010

Pole Class

Last night we started in the new venue. We are now in a nice room which is much bigger than the previous place. I had all three poles up with plenty of space and there would definitely be room for a fourth pole as well should I want to add another one in the future.

The first class had 6 people, a mix of three new beginners, two on their second lesson and one who has been coming for a few weeks, so I was kept busy throughout. They all picked everything up well.

The second class just had one person due to illness and holidays. She has been coming for a while now and is learning really quickly. We worked on her Gemini and Scorpio and she managed to get both after having struggled with them last week.

I did a small amount of personal practice, mainly shoulder mount and air inverts.

Tuesday 25 May 2010

Corde Lisse

Corde lisse last night went ok. We started off with the usual climbs and then did some straddle leavers. I managed four which I was happy with as I haven’t done them for ages. We then moved on to triple drop. I didn’t do the whole triple drop, I just worked on the individual parts of it. Then we looked at neck hang and the gripper. I didn’t have a go at tying the knot for neck hang but did have a go at hanging in a knot that the instructor had tied. Its not a very nice move! I didn’t managed to let go with my hands in it. I like the gripper but haven’t quite managed to grip it tightly enough yet so keep slipping down.

Monday 24 May 2010

Chinese pole

Chinese pole on Friday went ok. It was really hot so that zapped most of our motivation and energy! We went back over meathook, which was made harder by doing it on the left. I managed it eventually though, albeit messily. Apart from that we were working on the usual bits. My flag invert and shouldermount roll are still really hit and miss but I do feel that they are improving slowly.

Thursday 20 May 2010

Pole Classes Tuesday

Last nights classes went well. My two 7pm ladies are picking it all up really quickly. The weather has changed so the poles were nice and sticky which made for a good 8pm class as everyone in that group is now inverting. We also looked at the Cupid which everyone managed to get with various degrees of success.

As usual no personal practice aside from the normal Shoulder mount. I’ve just remembered that I was supposed to do an air invert practice as well but I forgot!

Tuesday 18 May 2010

Pole Thursday and Chinese Pole Friday

Went to pole class again on Thursday. It went a little better than last week. I decided to work on a few things that I hadn’t done for a very long time. Mainly the Superman and the Knee Hold. I was never very confident with either of these moves and as expected I have lost both of them, however, I am confident that I’ll get them back fairly quickly provided I keep practicing! Also practicing a few other bits and pieces. Have got my air invert back again. Its messy but it will be back nice and strong in no time.

Chinese pole on Friday went quite well. No further progress with my straight edge but it had not got worse either so that’s ok. I had a quick go at the knee hold and managed it first time so just need to transfer this over to the ordinary pole now!

Thursday 13 May 2010

Rope and Pole

Corde Lisse class on Monday went ok but I was a little disappointed with my performance. We split into two groups and had to think of a move each and then link them all together. My move was Washing Line (a nice easy one!) and the other moves were Sitting Loop Salto, Ankles and Gazelle. I have done all except Sitting Loop Salto before. Sitting Loop is from Front Balance which I was struggling with a bit (I think because its been a while since I’ve done it and it never was a strong move for me anyway). I didn’t manage it but with a bit of practice it is certainly achievable. My Washing Line and Gazelle were both fine and I didn’t get round to looking at Ankles as the class seemed to go really quickly!

My pole classes last night were better attended than last week. I had three people in each class so that was quite nice. Everyone did really well again getting at least one new move each. My lady from last week managed the full crucifix so her aim for next time is to start looking at Gemini / Scorpio. Another lady that had been struggling with the Butterfly got her head around it and managed to get it briefly so working on tidying it up and holding it longer next week.

No time for any personal practice, just the usual quick shoulder mount at the end.

Monday 10 May 2010

Pole and Chinese Pole

Thursday I decided to go along to a pole class as I have not been getting any personal practice in and I definitely need it. I was quite horrified at how many moves I have lost or that have just turned very sloppy so getting more practice in needs to become a priority!

I haven’t been to a Chinese pole class for months so I wasn’t sure how I would get on In Fridays class, especially as I had been so disappointed with my performance in pole class the previous evening. However, I ended up quite pleased.
I had remembered everything pretty well. The only thing I struggled a bit with (that I hadn’t previously) was the front balance but I managed it eventually, it just needs tidying up now. Also something that I noticed (and its something I had noticed in the past as well) is that my shoulder mount on the Chinese pole is decidedly iffy, whereas on an ordinary pole its normally pretty good. I have no idea why that is !

My big achievement of the class was that I managed my first ever Straight Edge. I only held it for a second but I was really pleased as I see it as big progress. I can now work on holding it for longer and getting confident in it.

Thursday 6 May 2010

Pole Class Tuesday

Tuesday night saw the start of my new 7pm Tuesday pole class. I decided to start a 7pm class in addition to my 8pm class as the latter regularly fills up. I only had one person for the 7pm class but I have had a fair few enquiries so hopefully some of those will turn into bookings for next week.

I was expecting four people for the 8pm class but only one turned up (which was a bit annoying as I’d brought two poles and crash mats which had to be carried up the stairs and set up when one set would have been fine). But we had a good lesson and she managed to get an unassisted cheaty (using armpit grip) inverted crucifix and I think that next week she should be able to get a full inverted crucifix without too much trouble.

Again no personal practice except for the usual demonstrating moves and quick shoulder mount practice at the end. I find teaching one – to – ones a lot more taxing than teaching groups though.

Wednesday 28 April 2010

Pole Class

Pole class went well again last night. Everyone managed to get something new and one lady managed her first ever invert. Need to start looking for a new studio as the one I use is closing down soon and besides I really need somewhere bigger. It's difficult finding a suitable venue in Weston-Super-Mare though. All the good places seem to have vaulted ceilings which is no good putting up x-poles.

I didn’t get any personal practice in aside form one Shoulder mount as we were late starting and finishing.

Tuesday 27 April 2010

Corde Lisse

When it comes to drops I am the biggest wimp going. I think this is in part down to me being a control freak. OK, so you control the wrap, and some drops can have a degree of control to them but really once you’re dropping that’s it, what happens, happens and there is nothing you can do until it’s finished.

So, after the warm up and climbs last nights Corde lisse class focused entirely on drops.

I can’t remember the name of the first one. It started from Catchers and then involved some wrapping into a figure 8 type wrap. It made perfect sense when I was on the ground watching it but once up in the air dangling upside down I really struggled to get my head around it. The person I was sharing the rope with struggled with it as well so it wasn’t just me. The rest of the group had varying degrees of success with it.

The second drop was Owens Drop. I’ve done Owens Drop before and got on OK with it. Once you’re doing it it’s really not scary or painful. It starts in Key of Stomach which then wraps into a kind of double catchers. You then do two little drops which finishes in catchers. I managed to do the wrap with no problems but I was too low down to do the actual drop. I ended up not doing it which I am now annoyed at myself for.

I managed to get in a bit of practice going over twizzle into catchers which a previous instructor had shown us. It had been at least two months since I last attempted it so it wasn’t working very well. I had previously got it nicely from the floor and could just about manage up the rope so it was annoying that I could barely even manage it from the floor. I’ll make sure I practice it a couple of times each lesson and it will come back properly though.

I feel that I need to put more effort in next time!

Wednesday 21 April 2010

Corde Lisse and Pole

Corde Lisse on Monday went fairly well. I was feeling a bit tired but did ok. We were going back over Key of Stomach to get into it nicely and then doing a little drop into it. Also looked at Mobile to Mobile again. I didn’t quite manage it but got closer than I have on previous attempts so that’s progress!

Pole class last night was good. Everyone is progressing nicely and they all managed to get a new move. Also started teaching the routine to the newer ones and they picked it up well. It was good for me to run through it as well as I haven’t done it for a while and whilst I could remember it I found it quite tiring so I need to spend time practicing routines / freestyle to full songs to build up stamina and flow. Had a quick practice of my Shoulder Mount after class and managed to hold it quite a long time. The aim is to be able to hold it out flat which I am still a way off from but it at least seems obtainable.

Introduction.

Hi. I'm Lucie and I've decided to start a blog (well actually 2, this one an another which I haven't set up yet about books and films) to chart my progress with the various activities that I do. At the moment those activities are mainly Pole, Corde Lisse and Burlesque.

Pole is my main love. I own 5 poles; 3 x-poles, 1 stage pole and one fixed pole. I teach a small weekly pole class in Weston-Super-Mare and aim to get regular personal practice in as well (although not been doing much lately, part of the aim of this blog is to see how much I'm doing which will hopefully encourage me to do more). I also go to a Chinese pole class whenever I can although those have been few and far between recently.

I attend Corde Lisse classes weekly in Bristol. These are great fun. I've just had a block off and it was my first class back this week. I think the break did me good as I went back refreshed and I hadn't lost too much strenght which is good!

I also have recently started attending a weekly Burlesque class in Clevedon. This is good fun and great for making friends. We took part in a show at the weekend which was scary but fun!

So, I'll be updating this with the progress that I make.

Burlesque

Burlesque class tonight went well. It was the first class learning the new routine which is to Mama from Chicago. Its a really good routine, going to enjoy doing this one.
